Title: Introduction to Quantum Computing
Date & Time: Friday, November 21, 2 PM
Venue: B204
Abstract
Quantum computing technologies have been making rapid progress in recent years. To broaden awareness of this emerging technology, I am going to introduce quantum computing in this seminar. We will talk about quantum phenomena such as superposition, interference, entanglement, and measurement. We will briefly talk about Hilbert space. As Boolean algebra provides logical abstraction for classical computers, Hilbert space provides a logical abstraction for quantum computing. As an application of quantum computing, we will talk about a quantum key distribution protocol, an entanglement-based quantum cryptography.
