Yoan Magniez, QA Manager at Roku, and Dr. Gabin An, Software Engineer in Test at Roku, will present “From Challenges to Innovation: Behind the Scenes of Testing Roku’s ACR Technology.”
The seminar will be held as follows: Title: From Challenges to Innovation: Behind the Scenes of Testing Roku's ACR Technology Speaker: Yoan Magniez & Dr. Gabin An Date and Time: Friday, May 23, 2 PM Venue: B205
*The talk is open to all!*
Abstract
Roku, a global leader powering the #1 streaming platform in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is dedicated to delivering seamless and user-friendly streaming experiences through its innovative devices, smart TVs, and operating system. With a focus on simplicity and cutting-edge technology, Roku connects users to a vast array of content while driving advancements in the streaming industry.
At the forefront of its technological innovation is Automatic Content Recognition (ACR), a large-scale distributed system that identifies video content in real-time on TVs and players, with user consent. ACR powers features such as personalized recommendations, dynamic ad insertion, and the collection of viewership data, enhancing both user engagement and content monetization.
Testing this complex, distributed system involves addressing challenges such as simulating real-world scenarios, deploying features on millions of devices and managing extensive test cases.
In this talk, we will explore how Roku’s Quality Assurance team tackles some of these challenges to ensure consistent performance and reliability of the ACR technology. Furthermore, the presentation will highlight the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and large language model (LLM) in QA strategies, showcasing how it is driving efficiency and innovation in the testing field, through the example of log anomaly detection.
Gain a behind-the-scenes perspective on the testing of cutting-edge technologies at the intersection of Quality assurance, AI and streaming.
