Provisional Admission is available only to Stony Brook University (SBU) applicants and provides an admission pathway for students who do not yet have a qualifying English proficiency test score.
Students admitted through Provisional Admission are required to enroll in the Intensive English Center (IEC) program for a minimum of one semester before matriculating into their degree program.

Stony Brook University (SBU) applicants are required to designate at least one recommender for a recommendation letter.
Recommenders can be added through the online application. After entering the recommender's information, the applicant must click "Send to Recommender" for the recommendation request form to be sent.
The recommender must then submit the recommendation letter as a PDF file through the provided submission process.
Applicants must complete and submit all required essays through the designated sections of the online application.
If you would like to submit additional essays beyond the required Personal Statement or Optional Essays, you may upload them as PDF files under Supplementary Materials.
Yes. Applicants who did not complete high school may still apply using an official GED score report, provided they meet the applicable GED requirements.
Stony Brook University (SBU) requires a minimum score of 165 or higher in each of the four GED subject areas, demonstrating college readiness.
Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) requires a passing GED score.

The New York campus study structure differs between Stony Brook University (SBU) and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).
Stony Brook University (SBU): Students follow the 3+1 curriculum, completing three years at SUNY Korea and fulfilling a one-year New York campus residency requirement. The timing of the New York campus year varies depending on the student's academic major.
Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT): Students follow FIT's standard 2+2 curriculum. Students complete the first two years at SUNY Korea and earn their AAS degree. Students who wish to continue their studies toward a bachelor's degree may then continue to upper-division studies at the FIT New York campus.
