We have recently founded an undergraduate Honors Program at the Department of Computer Science. It is a program open only to students with outstanding academic performance, as gauged by GPA. Students selected into this program receive what we call the “OmniPass” – a decorative ID that allows them to participate in any of our weekly graduate research seminars of their choosing. These are the courses currently labeled CSE 646-658 in the list of graduate courses. More courses will be added to this list as new professors join our department. In each of these seminars a professor and his/her graduate students and guests meet weekly to discuss state of the art computer science research. If selected to this program, being immersed in these discussions and hearing about these topics will give you a wider perspective on the field of computer science. It will allow you to see the bleeding edge of current research and the future technologies that will likely evolve from it.
