Scholarships & InternshipsINTERNSHIPS
There are ample opportunities for internships at all academic levels. SUNY Korea has many connections to Korean (and also worldwide) industry and research labs. Located directly on the SUNY Korea campus in Songdo is the Center of Excellence for Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) Korea. CEWIT Korea is an extension of CEWIT Stony Brook – a research center with over 70 associated faculty members, 190 PhD and 180 Master students. CEWIT is an unparalleled resource, advancing the science and technology underlying the next epoch of the information revolution. Guided by innovative industrial partnerships, the programs not only address science and technology issues, but culminate in the transfer to commercial applications, resulting in increased employment through established ventures and the creation of new enterprises.
Qualified PhD students will be eligible for a full scholarship under the newly awarded POSTECH-SUNY Korea IT Consilience Creative Program. The SUNY Korea partnership has been awarded funding under a Ministry of Knowledge Economy grant entitled “Fostering Premium IT Professionals.” The total grant is for approximately $50 million for 10 years, and SUNY Korea is partnering with the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), a top-notch engineering university in Hyoja, for a 20 percent allocation of the grant.
